Manchester United legend Ruud van Nistelrooy has revealed his desire to return to management, although his priority is not a move to England.

Van Nistelrooy has been out of work since leaving PSV at the end of 2022-23, having won the Dutch Cup. He resigned, citing a lack of support from within the club, and has also worked there as a youth coach. Before that, he has twice worked as an assistant manager for the Netherlands national team, but he is again looking to return to the dugout.

The striker played in the Netherlands with Den Bosch, Heerenveen and PSV, as well as England, with Manchester United, Spain, with Real Madrid and Malaga, and Germany with Hamburg. And he has confirmed that while he would like to eventually tick off both the Premier League and the Bundesliga as a coach, his priority is La Liga.

WHAT VAN NISTELROOY SAID
Van Nistelrooy told AS: "I would really like to work in Spain, and I have had conversations with Spanish clubs. But also the other leagues in which I have played, I want to coach there too. In the Premier League, and the Bundesliga."

WHAT NEXT?
Van Nistelrooy will be keeping a close eye on managerial movements this summer, particularly in La Liga. During his time in Spain, he scored 64 goals in 96 games for Real, and five in 32 games for Malaga.
