ToggleWHAT HAPPENED?
Mbappe is seemingly set to move to Real this summer, with the saga over his future finally poised to come to an end. His divorce with PSG has turned somewhat sour, with manager Luis Enrique dropping the World Cup winner to the bench. But that outcome is thought to have left City delighted, even if it means they will not be welcoming Mbappe to Manchester.

THE EXPLANATION
Per French journalist Julien Laurens, City are pleased that Mbappe is heading to the Santiago Bernabeu because it means they will be unable to afford a deal to sign the Blues' star man, Erling Haaland. The Norway international has long been mooted as a future Galactico, and he refused to shut the door on any move when asked earlier this week, but a summer deal now appears impossible.
